 | The Independent Critic isn't IMDB.
The Independent Critic isn't Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic or any of the other mass appeal film websites floating around the web.
These sites, whether you realize it or not, are owned by corporate giants like Amazon (IMDB). Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily, but it does mean their bottom line is THE bottom line.
The Independent Critic is different. Way different.
Started by nationally recognized child rights activist and award-winning writer Richard Propes, The Independent Critic isn't the Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich of film criticism. The Independent Critic won't dazzle you with distraction or bedazzle you with all sorts of bells & whistles.
The Independent Critic is about film journalism- top notch film reviews, insightful interviews and commentary that celebrates the best and worst of the film world inside and outside of Hollywood.
The Independent Critic is about those filmmakers who create the films that cram the multiplexes AND those filmmakers scrounging together their life savings to put together a microcinema masterpiece that most of the world will never see.
The Independent Critic is dedicated to celebrating the cinematic community, from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to the backyards and alleys where the next indie film directors, writers and actors toil away just trying to make a living doing what they love.
The Independent Critic reviews and features everything the film world has to offer, from wide releases to indies to student films and, yes, short films.
If it's part of the cinematic landscape, The Independent Critic celebrates it.
The Independent Critic also believes in the power of the creative spirit to make a difference in the world. The Independent Critic is dedicated to discovering, empowering and acknowledging those filmmakers, actors, writers and other industry professionals using their skills and talents to improve the lives of others.
From dedicating a portion of site proceeds to children's organizations to sponsoring films that inspire change and hope and peace in the world, The Independent Critic isn't guided by corporate interests but, instead, is guided by a desire to make a difference in the world.
Welcome to The Independent Critic- An Independent Voice for the Reel World!

- Richard's worst interview ever? "Psycho" star Anthony Perkins became irritated that his film "Edge of Sanity" hadn't been screened in Indy before the scheduled interview. Things went downhill from there!
