The Big Pelvis is my second short film from up-and-coming student filmmaker Joseph Jeavons, a new but rapidly growing filmmaker out of Texas whose talent continues to show quite a bit of promise.

The Big Pelvis is a comedy short that has already picked up a couple of awards on the indie fest circuit - Best Student Film at Houston Comedy Film Festival and Student Award, Finalist- Best Super Short Film at the Student World Impact Film Festival.

The film centers around a group of fishing friends who gather loyally once a month in pursuit of the ever-elusive Big Pelvis, a mysterious creature who comes out only once a month. They are determined to catch the fish before their main rival does.

This is a film dependent on the one-liners, courtesy of co-writers Jeavons and Owen Swift, and the chemistry of the leading trio - Jeavons, Jordan Mook, and Howard May. The jokes are quick and pleasing while the relationships here are relaxed and appealing. It's easy to believe this is a trio of friends.

Lensing by Owen Swift is competent throughout the 11-minute film and Swift also contributes the film's original music. While there's definitely never a moment here when you won't realize you're watching a student short, you'll find yourself laughing anyway and enjoying the heartfelt, winning humor.

Still early on its festival journey, The Big Pelvis is one to watch for at an indie or microcinema fest near you.
