 Movie Review: Arranged Love

Writer/director Sanjane Koneshamoorthy's Arranged Love is an engaging cinematic treat that I didn't manage to review during its limited theatrical release. While it begins in a way reminiscent of our endearing favorites from Bollywood, Arranged Love tells a familiar story with universal themes and a lovely beating heart.

Merunasri (Fatema Khan) is a lovely woman, professionally successful and quite personable. As is often the case in this sort of film, she longs for love with one man, Dhaventhiran (Atharv Kolhatkar), somewhat arranged and preferred by her parents and another man, Rizwan (Aurnab As-Saber) shown as an alternative.

Of course, it is this choice that drives the narrative of Arranged Love and its humorous yet somewhat dramatic story and talented ensemble that keeps us completely invested throughout the film's nearly two-hour running time.

D.P. Rah Sharma's lensing is lively and vibrant yet quite felt throughout, and Beven Elankumaran's original score serving as a sublime companion for Koneshamoorthy's storytelling.

It's really the film's ensemble that makes this all work. Khan makes for a truly compelling central figure and the film's heartbeat. Al-Saber intrigues as a smoothie who remains understandably likable, though it's also really the chemistry between Kolhatkar and Khan that is most satisfying.

Arranged Love may not be the best film you'll see in 2026, however, it's an immensely enjoyable indie flick that's worth checking out with its pleasing combo of strong storytelling and entertaining sequences.
