The Creeping Garden explores the world of the plasmodial slime mold and the fringe scientists, mycologists and artists who work with them. Co-directed by film critic Jasper Sharp and artist/filmmaker Tim Grabham, The Creeping Garden features an original soundtrack by musician/producer Jim O'Rourke (Sonic Youth, Grizzly Man) and, indeed, it's that rare documentary where calling it an arthouse doc, and that's a compliment, would be appropriate.

The Creeping Garden is, at times, a little too committed toward eliciting a certain mood or feeling, especially in certain gloomy segments, but the film's an incredibly visually appealing and endlessly entertaining look at a subject that one would hardly ever expect as a subject for a feature-length sci-fi/doc. Not quite extraordinary but always compelling, The Creeping Garden is now available via Arrow Films. For more information, click on the link in the credits.
