It's no secret that I've become a fan of the fine folks involved with Acrostar Productions. An Acrostar production typically involves a bevy of beauties, a B-movie sensibility, and quite often even an underlying message or two amidst the breasts, chills, and thrills.

The same is true with their latest, Night of the Dead Sorority Babes, a return of sorts to sorority house horror centered around a group of wannabe sorority chicks whose initiation involves a couple of villainous entities who may have a problem or two with anyone who doesn't quite measure up to their devilish standards.

The film is written by Steve Hermann and co-directed by Hermann with indie horror wonderbabe Angel Nichole Bradford. Hermann is often found at the core of everything Acrostar and Bradford's presence is always welcome whether on-screen or off-screen. Night of the Dead Sorority Babes is an ensemble piece for sure, Ann Myrna, usually more of a bit player in Acrostar flicks, shines brightly here as Angelica Grace alongside the always delightful Lynn Lowry as Kimberly Blake.

There are others you'll meet along the way including the awesomely fun Mia Katz, Anna Clary, Jessa Flux (a true highlight here), Samantha Hupp and others. Hermann's script serves up opportunities for most of the ensemble to shine in various moments with surprisingly poignant moments at times followed by some pretty awesome kills.

I have to be a bit honest and say that Night of the Dead Sorority Babes is on the lower end of the Acrostar spectrum for me, its 80's  tinged horror fun to watch while Hermann's story is much richer than one might expect in this kind of film even it doesn't always have quite the fluidity of a typical Acrostar production. Did I hate it? Oh heavens no. It just didn't quite grab me as much as an Acrostar pic usually does, though there's never a bad time to be had when you get folks like Lowry, Bradford, Katz, Myrna, and Flux on the screen.

Night of the Dead Sorority Babes amps up the gore quite a bit and fans of indie horror, 80's horror, and/or Acrostar should all find much to enjoy here. Hermann is always great at adding human elements in even his darkest stories and the same is definitely true here.

Picked up by BayView Entertainment for an indie streaming release, Night of the Dead Sorority Babes is still one to watch for even if it's not destined to be one of my preferred Acrostar titles.
