Fresh off its world premiere at Slamdance LA, No Leg Power tells the story of CJ Bellamy. Bellamy seemingly had it all going for him as a promising high school basketball player with a D-1 scholarship and legit prospects of making the NBA.

One night of being in the wrong place at the wrong time changed everything.

Written and produced by Reign Burton and directed by Tristan Anthony Ortiz, No Leg Power follows the story of how Bellamy discovered his new purpose in life after the tragic shooting that ended his NBA prospects. A bullet grazed Bellamy's spine. Bellamy became a paraplegic and wheelchair user, seemingly ending his athletic potential.

Or maybe not.

Bellamy discovered the world of CrossFit. For those who don't know, CrossFit is a high-demand physical training regimen and a competitive sport. It's not a world frequented by athletes with disabilities, however, Bellamy discovered a gift for it and began training and competing in it at a high level. Rejuvenated in life and sport, Bellamy founded his own fitness brand - No Leg Power - and his life and the world of CrossFit has never quite been the same.

This 10-minute doc short screened in the Unstoppable block at Slamdance LA where it's impressive visuals and inspirational messaging proved to be a popular combo for all who were lucky enough to check it out. Destined for a long ride on the indie fest circuit, No Leg Power is beautifully shot by Gage Eggleston and captures the inspiration of Bellamy's story without ever turning into what the late British comic and speaker Stella Young called "inspiration porn."

No Leg Power is a film to watch for if you get a chance to check it out on the indie fest circuit.
